Fringe Benefits

Wyatt Trapp, Inc.

Opting In or Out

step three

Decide if you want fringe benefits taken out of your pay and invested

What Are Fringe Benefits?

The way prevailing wage works is that each trade has a “base pay” (say, $50 per hour,) and another portion (say, $25 per hour,) that can be invested in “fringe benefits,” such as a pension, or vacation savings.

By default, the “fringe” portion of your hourly pay is set aside and put towards these savings programs. If you do not want these fringes removed, you have to go to the online portal and opt out.

If you are interested in any of these benefit programs, you can read more about fringe benefits by clicking on the button below. If you want to opt out, scroll down to the next section.

This is a trade classification sheet that shows how the hourly pay breaks down. Click on the image to see the actual document on the Department of Industrial Relations website.

important!

If you do not want money taken out of your check for fringe benefits, you must opt out before your first day of work.

What You Need to Do

By default, eBacon opts people in to the fringe benefits program. So, if you want to participate in the fringe benefits program, you don’t need to do anything. You’re already enrolled.

If you don’t want your money to be set aside, you need to opt-out before your first day of work. This video will walk you through the process of opting out of fringe benefits (so that you get the full hourly rate in every check.)

Do not wait to do this. If you don’t do this before your first day of work, you will have money taken out of your check.
